The first time I had a persimmon, I was walking up the hill in our ancient Tuscan hill town to our study abroad dorms in the old monastery. It was sunset in the valley and I sat on the city walls to eat it and watch the colors change the fields from green to gold to purple. I don't think I'll ever eat a persimmon again because I don't want to ruin that memory, but I love painting them.
